9 Weeks

Only 217 days to go
Today was our first doctors appointment. And now I understand the importance of writing down your questions! especially because you never know when you'll get caught off guard with something like an
ultrasound!
That's right. That is our little blob. I am seriously on cloud 9 today!

The doctor said that the baby was doing just fine. Kicking around in my uterus.
Betty ended up tagging along with us and she was being so cute. I had to undress from the waist down for the usual check up, and she was so MAD at me for taking my pants off. After the doctor printed off the little picture of baby. I was showing it to Betty, and she would not give it back. I finally got it from her, and Paul took her out to the truck while I went and got my blood drawn, when I got back out to the truck she started yelling at me "My Baby My Baby" and I had to give her the picture back. She is just too freaking cute. I don't think she'll have any problem adjusting. I think we will have more of an issue keeping her away from the baby haha.

This week in Baby's world:

9 Weeks Pregnant

How Big is the Baby at Nine Weeks Pregnant?
By pregnancy week 9 baby is between 22 and 30 mm long, (that's about an inch) or about the size of a large grape. Baby weighs less than one ounce at 9 weeks pregnant, but will soon start putting on weight dramatically

Baby's Growth and Development

The following developments typically occur during the ninth week of pregnancy:
  • Nipple and hair follicles begin to form
  • The abdomen and chest cavities become separate
  • Eye muscles and upper lip develop
  • First fetal movements can be detected using an ultrasound
  • The nerve cells of the retinas form in the eyes
  • The semicircular canals of the ears form
  • The nasal passages open to the outside
  • The nerve connections from the retina to the brain are established
  • A distinct neck connects the head to the body
  • All fingers and toes are present
  • The urinary and rectal passages are completely separate
  • The intestines start to move out of the umbilical cord and into the abdomen.

-Me: Well other than a craving for meat so bad it kept me up half the night. Still no morning sickness. Although every time I stand up, I have to go potty. That is kind of annoying.

Sunday June 28th
9Wks 2days
Somehow I knew this week had something else in store for us.

3am I get up to go to the restroom, there was A LOT of bright red blood. My heart just sank. Not again, this cannot be happening AGAIN... I call my doctor and tell him whats going on and he gives me two options

1. go to the hospital and get an ultrasound
or
2. Wait til Monday and come in for an ultrasound.

Either way, If I was miscarrying there isn't anything they can do. We decided to wait it out for a little while and see if it subsided. Which it did. But when I got up in the morning I was still spotting. The not know was killing me. So I finally broke down and Paul convinced me to go in to the ER. When I got all checked in, they drew some blood and took me in for an ultrasound. My last miscarry just kept playing over and over in my mind.. I was positioned so I couldn't see the screen, so I kept looking over at Paul to see his expression because he could see the screen. The seconds felt like hours... No one said anything, you couldn't even hear breathing in the room. Finally the most glorious sound broke the silence. Little "Tater"'s Heart beat! 174 beats per min.

"Thank God!"

I exclaimed as all the air whooshed out of my body and the huge weight lifted off my chest.
Baby is measuring right where he/she should be. 9wks 2days. The Tech was even kind enough to show us the baby. He/She was kicking around. It was so amazing. I was put on pelvic rest, which basically means no heavy lifting, or strenous activity, until the spotting stops.

8 Weeks 5days

Only 219 days to go!
I really should have started this sooner, but things have been a tad bit hectic. Pregnancy always seems to happen when I am about to move or in the middle of it. haha. I am not joking either!

Case in point:
With Samuel we were living with my parents, and we ended downsizing to a smaller house because my sister had gotten married and moved out.

We were living with Paul's dad and little sister in a rental house in Sierra Vista. His dad had bought a house and in the middle of preparing it for us to move into, we found out we were expecting Aidan.

We lived in a small apartment in Provo, where we were having flooding issues. So we ended up moving out of there. We found out a month before our move. Sadly we ended up losing that baby at 12 weeks.

When I was pregnant with Betty, we ended up moving to a house in Lehi.
and now here I sit 8 weeks pregnant and I am moving from that house.

Maybe I take this whole nesting thing a little too far haha.

So my goal is to write a little something each week. Include some info on how baby is growing. Something funny like a pregnancy related mishap and some insight on how I am handling all this.

So here goes nothing:

8 Weeks Pregnant

How Big is the Baby at Eight Weeks Pregnant?
Think bean! By pregnancy week 8 baby is anywhere from 14 to 20mm long, or about the size of a bean!

Baby's Growth and Development

During the eighth week of pregnancy, baby will likely begin developing webbed fingers and toes.
As baby's heart becomes more fully developed, it will pump at approximately 150 beats a minute, which is about twice the usual adult rate. The following developments also typically occur during the eighth week of pregnancy:
  • The leg buds divide into thigh, leg, and foot units
  • The arm buds divide into hand, arm, elbow, and shoulder units
  • The arms and legs move
  • Cartilage and bones begin to form
  • Eyelids begin to form
  • The ears, upper lip, and tip of the nose become recognizable
  • The tongue begins to develop
  • The intestines grow so long that they start protruding into the umbilical cord
  • Teeth develop under the gums
  • The gonads (testes or ovaries) are forming
  • Nerve fibers connect the olfactory lobe of the brain, laying groundwork for the sense of smell.

-As for me... Well I hate to jinx myself but I have no morning sickness, no nausea, no throwing up. I think this has a lot to do with me keeping up on my eating. A full tummy=No nausea!

However I do feel like a walking zombie. I could sleep until noon, take a nap around 4 and still make it to bed by 8 with out a second thought. I did not think it could be possible to be this dang tired.

Foood, oh how I love thee. I am in a mostly fresh fruits and veggies mode. Or Meat! Meat is another big thing rightnow. Tonight as I write this I am enjoying my newest indulgence YOGURT!!

I find myself thinking mmmm how I wish they made a steak and lobster yogurt. haha

I will leave you with that. As I am in the tub hiding from my children and my mango yogurt is demanding my attention!
