Zoo Day Disaster! Part 1

Every year for Mothers Day/Saydies Birthday my whole family goes to Hogle Zoo.  I love love love the zoo, probably more than my kids do!

Waiting for everyone to get through the gate and rent their wagons

When we first got there, we all headed down and had lunch,
sang happy birthday to Saydie and had cupcakes. It was a lot of fun.
After that we started out to check out all the animals.
Everyone was getting a hoot out of this guy.
He was carrying around a stuffed baby monkey.
It was so cute.
After he got done grooming the stuffed baby monkey,
he started patting himself on the back
it was so funny

After the Reptile house, we headed over to ride on the carousel.
After the carousel we headed on over to the elephants to see Baby Zuri.

But It was her nap time, so we headed over to see what the gorrillas and other primates were doing.
I didn't take any pictures, but while we were watching the primates, the vet came in and was doing examinations on them, it was really cool.

After that we headed on down to the park.

Zoo Day Disaster! Part 2

We usually let the kids play at the park, and then head up to ride the train.
After I took these pictures, I went down to sit with Jackson while Paul
Went and bought the tickets for the train ride.
All of sudden I hear my name being called.
I thought that is odd, so I asked Dylan to sit with Jackson and I walked over to the park.
I said "I'm Shiloh" and They said that my kid had fallen and was hurt.
I walked over and behind this log, there was Samuel laying in the dirt.
I knew right away he had broken his arm
because he had the same weird rash on his neck and face that he had gotten when he broke his leg.
When he moved his other arm to let me see, his elbow was already swollen
I called Paul and told him we needed to go rightnow because Sam had hurt himself.
He came over and checked it out and agreed.
I picked Samuel up and carried him to the front, while my family got all our stuff ready to go.
When we arrived at Primary Childrens, Samuel was in a lot of pain.
But like his little brother wasn't really crying.
After they got us all settled in his room
The doctor came in to give him and IV so that they could give him
Morphine, because they were going to have to move his arm
to get the x-rays.

Aidan was so so mad at the doctor for hurting Samuel.
I think Aidan was more upset at seeing Samuel having to go through that, then Samuel was.
He just had this look on his face, like he wanted to rip the doctors face off
for hurting his big brother.
After Samuel was done getting his IV, he told Aidan he was okay,
and the doctor went out and got them both matching stuffed animals.
After Samuels morphine kicked in,
he started talking a mile a minute
and he did great for the x-rays
The doctor kept calling him
"Samuel the Brave"

The x-rays showed that he did have a fracture,
and it looked like it extended out into joint space
So they thought he was going to have to have surgery.
After an agonizing wait to hear what the ortho's had to say
They decided that he didn't need surgery
Just a splint for 10 days and then come back to be casted,

How do you explain to a 7 year old that he needs to take it easy?
haha.

what a week I tell ya!

"You should have told me I'd break my arm if I went outside"

Monday night. I told Aidan it was too late to go outside, and he needed to be getting ready for bed because it was almost 8pm. Well being the hard headed little kid he is, he went and found his dad and asked him. Paul not knowing what I had said, told him go ahead. So sitting upstairs in my room, thinking all my kids are getting ready for bed in their rooms. Brooklyn comes running upstairs and tells me that Aidan has fallen off the porch and hurt his arm. So I go running down the stairs and there he is laying in the dirt. Jeff happened to be out there and picked him up and handed him to me. I didn't think it was broken, because he was not crying very much at all. And he was moving it around with out crying out in pain or anything. I brought him up, and told him to get hims PJ's on and it was time for bed. Well about 10pm we here some screaming coming from the other room, we get up and go to investigate and Aidan is laying on the floor. You can tell he is in a lot of pain, and I just had that feeling something more was wrong, so we decide to take him to the ER. Sure enough.. He has fracture.. Poor guy!

Not that you would have known it, since at the ER he was bouncing off the walls. climbing up and down on the bed, pushing himself around on the stool and asking when he was going to get his lollipop. Paul said he didn't even cry during the X-rays.  And this would all be why Aidan scares me to death! Oh did I mention he hasn't had pain meds of any sorts since this has happened? Yeah...

We go see the ortho doc on the 11th to get his arm put in a cast most likely.
He is a tough little guy!

Betty's Birthday Party

We had Betty's birthday party today. We had Strawberry Shortcake, Pink "Pupcakes", and grilled some hot dogs. It was awesome. After Betty opened her presents, we busted up the pinata. Samuel was actually the one who broke it in to two pieces.

She loves everything she got!

This is Jackson wearing the Pinata head as a hat.
Now that is what I call a "Party Animal"
haha

After the party Derek and Brea stuck around for a while. The kids were all down playing in the basement, when Brooklyn came running upstairs because Brooke (haha confusing soemtimes) had stepped on something and was bleeding.  It was a leg to this little vanity thing down there, the kids had broke it off  and some nails were sticking up from it. Derek thought he felt something in her foot, so they took her over to the insta-care while we watched DaKoda.  The rest of the night was spent with all the kids sprawled out infront of the tv watching Strawberry Shortcake. After everyone left, we packed up our kids and headed down to put a second coat of paint on the new house. It was a great weekend.
